Proper Use of This Medicine

Use sertaconazole as directed by your doctor. Your hands should be washed after applying the medicine to the affected area(s) of your skin. Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth and other mucus membranes. Sertaconazole is for external use only.

Dry the affected area(s) thoroughly before application, if you wish to use sertaconazole after bathing.

Use your medicine for the full treatment time recommended by your doctor, even though symptoms may have improved.

Avoid the use of bandages or gauze (occlusive dressings) unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

Dosing—The dose of sertaconazole will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label . The following information includes only the average doses of sertaconazole. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so. Do not use this medication for any disorder other than that for which it was prescribed.

  • For topical dosage form (cream):
    • For athlete's foot:
      • Adults—Apply enough sertaconazole to cover the affected and surrounding skin areas and rub in gently
      • Children over the age of 12—Apply enough sertaconazole to cover the affected and surrounding skin areas and rub in gently

Missed dose—If you miss a dose of this medicine, use it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.

Storage—To store this medicine:

  • Keep out of the reach of children.
  • Keep the medicine from freezing. Do not refrigerate.
  • Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed. Ask your health care professional how you should dispose of any medicine you do not use. Be sure that any discarded medicine is out of the reach of children.
