When This Medicine Should Not Be Used:

Your child should not use this medicine if he or she has had an allergic reaction to nitazoxanide.

How to Use This Medicine:

Liquid

• Your child's doctor will tell you how much of this medicine to use and how often. Do not use more medicine or use it more often than the doctor tells you to.
• It is best for your child to take this medicine with food or milk.
• Shake the bottle of medicine just before using. Measure the oral liquid medicine with a marked measuring spoon, oral syringe, or medicine cup.

If a dose is missed:

• If your child misses a dose or you forget to use the medicine, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your child's next dose, wait until then to use the medicine and skip the missed dose.
• Do not use extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

How to Store and Dispose of This Medicine:

• Store the medicine at room temperature in a closed container, away from heat and direct light.
• Ask your pharmacist, doctor, or health caregiver about the best way to dispose of any leftover medicine after your child has finished the treatment. This medicine is good for only 7 days. Throw away any medicine you have longer than 7 days.
• Keep all medicine out of the reach of children and never share this medicine with anyone.

Drugs and Foods to Avoid:

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.

Warnings While Using This Medicine:

• Make sure your child's doctor knows if your child has kidney disease or liver disease.
• If your child has diabetes, you need to know that this medicine contains sugar.

If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:

• Headache
• Stomach pain, diarrhea, or vomiting

If you notice other side effects that you think are caused by this medicine, tell your doctor.
