When This Medicine Should Not Be Used:

You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to yeast, yeast products, or glycerin (glycerol).

How to Use This Medicine:

Liquid

• Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use and how often to use it. You may get your first and second doses of this medicine at your doctor's office, in case you have an allergic reaction to it.
• You should receive another information sheet with your medicine. Read this information carefully before using this medicine and each time you get your prescription refilled.
• Carefully measure your dose with the scoop or dropper that comes with the medicine.
• Take the medicine with each meal or snack. Mix the medicine with 2 to 4 ounces (about 1/4 to 1/2 cup) of water, milk, or infant formula. Do not mix the medicine with fruit juice. The water, milk, or formula should be cold or at room temperature. You should not use warm or hot liquids because heat will keep the medicine from working as well. Do not warm or heat the liquid after you put the medicine in it.
• Take one-half of the medicine at the beginning of your meal or snack, and the rest at the end of the meal or snack.

If a dose is missed:

• Take this medicine with each meal or snack. If you miss a dose, wait until your next meal to take the medicine.

How to Store and Dispose of This Medicine:

• Store the medicine in the refrigerator. An open bottle of medicine is good for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, throw away any unused medicine from an opened bottle. Write down the date that you opened the bottle to help you remember.
• Check the expiration date on the bottle. Throw away any medicine that has expired.
• Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.

Drugs and Foods to Avoid:

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.

• Do not mix the medicine with fruit juice. The acids in juice may keep the medicine from working as it should.
• Your doctor may tell you to limit the amount of starch that you eat. Follow any instructions that your doctor gives you about your diet.

Warnings While Using This Medicine:

• Talk with your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant of breastfeeding.
• Check with your doctor before using this medicine if you have diabetes. This medicine will help your body absorb sugar and can change the level of sugar in your blood. Your doctor may need to change your diet or diabetes medicine.

Possible Side Effects While Using This Medicine:

Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:

• Wheezing or trouble breathing
• Swelling in your face

If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:

• Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or stomach pain that is worse than before
• Constipation

If you notice other side effects that you think are caused by this medicine, tell your doctor.
